Industrial Automation Trends for 2019
Wednesday, March 20, 2019

Recent years have seen an increasing number of industrial innovations and it looks like things will just keep accelerating. This past decade has seen industrial manufacturers increase their focus on software-based strategies and as a result, they have seen a faster growth of their revenues. The reason for this growth is attributed mainly towards the increasing adoption and advancement of industrial automation.

While automation is playing a huge role in improving industrial efficiency, it also goes to say that customized software streamlines the processes involved, which helps industrial employees become more productive. Custom software is also helping when it comes to providing valuable training to workers. This ensures greater productivity and safety for workers. Here is a look at some of the most notable industrial automation trends expected in 2019.

Safety and Training

One of the industrial automation trends we’re going to take a look at is an improvement in software focused on safety and training. While increasing automation is significantly reducing the need for human involvement in processes on a physical level, it cannot do without the human touch entirely. Advancing technology, particularly the virtual reality technology, is helping the next generation of workers understand real-life environments better. It allows them to take risks and understand through their failures how they can put actual equipment to proper use. This keeps the industrial equipment and the students themselves safe from harm while teaching them everything they need to know.

Single Device, Multiple Functions

The advent of the smartphone has been one revelation which has completely changed the world. Papers, pens, cameras and voice recorders are slowly but surely being phased out of industrial applications. One of the trends in industrial automation is an increasing use of smartphones and tablets. Devices are now capable of accomplishing a lot more than what they used to in the past. This has affected every aspect of our life and it is only logical that they are used in the industrial processes as well. Customized applications can tap into the functionalities of the different industrial devices to provide a singular tool for inventory control, inspections, scheduling and a variety of other industrial functions. The removal of paperwork and heavy equipment is making the process of industrial automation a lot smoother and efficient.

Customized Software and Automation

The basic key to success is communication in every industry. It goes without saying that one of the most important industrial automation trends for 2019 is going to be an increased focus on the Internet of Things. The IoT has fast become a standard in industrial applications. It allows machinery and appliances to connect with greater efficiency and create a workflow that is smarter and more productive. Every department in the chain of production is informed of the overall progress. Through the use of customized software, industries are also going to be able to connect multiple departments for the industrial process through multiple sites in the world.
